If I am right in my thinking that no one actually follows my journal, no one will actually see this, but I feel the need to announce that I am doing NaNoWriMo this year. I am hoping that by putting it out there, maybe I can hold myself accountable and actually get farther than usual. I will try and update this post everyday with wordcount updates to try and keep myself motivated. I have even gone so far as to get myself a writing buddy who has never done Nano before so maybe by motivating her, I will motivate myself. I'll never know if I don't try.
Day 1: I think today went pretty good. I managed to get a little over 3000 words under my belt. Not quite two days worth of writing, but a pretty good number all the same. I am feeling pretty good right now about what I am doing. I feel that I have another couple thousand words in me, at the least, for where I currently am in my "novel" with several other ideas to work with. I have a lot of time to cover so that could get me a pretty decent word count if I can figure out how to flesh it out. Should be fun. Tomorrow I have work so I imagine my word count won't be as high.
Day 2: Even with work today, I managed to spit out another ~3000 words. I think I am moving along at a relatively decent clip. This probably isn't great writing, most likely not even good (cause let's face it, I'm not a terribly good writer). But it feels good to be writing again. So far I am really enjoying the challenge that Nano is giving me. I will probably hit my wall in the next couple days where I have to actually starting figuring out where I am going with things. I have an idea about where I would like to get to with my 50k, and if I get there too soon or not, some stuff that I could write after that. Hopefully I have enough material to see me through the month. I now have the start of a buffer going, but I would like to see my word count a little higher.
Day 3: Today wasn't quite as productive as the last two. My motivation level was way down after not sleeping well and then having to work. Maybe tomorrow will be better.
Day 4: I haven't been sleeping well and it all caught up with me today. I was supremely unproductive most of the day, but I still managed to get out ~2400 words taking me over 10k already (Holy info-dump, Batman! I am writing so much info right now. Guess that's what happens when I pants this thing. However, it gives me word count I wouldn't have had otherwise). While I definitely have a couple days of buffer, I don't want to use them just yet. Maybe I will try and get some actual sleep tonight and will be invigorated come tomorrow to get another 2000+ words written.
Nov 1: 3037 (official Nano count...it is about 25 words higher in Word).
Nov 2: 6173
Nov 3: 8136
Nov 4: 10533
